Dr. Mangassarian conducts these evaluations in accordance with POST guidelines, providing law enforcement agencies with a thorough, defensible assessment of each candidate’s psychological suitability for the demands of a career in public safety.

Fitness-for-Duty Evaluations

When an employer has concerns about an employee’s psychological or cognitive ability to safely perform their job duties, a fitness-for-duty evaluation may be requested. Fitness-for-duty evaluations may be initiated following a critical incident, extended medical or psychiatric leave, observed behavioral or cognitive changes, supervisory concerns about judgment or decision-making, or as part of a return-to-work process. These evaluations are independent, objective assessments that determine whether an employee meets the psychological and cognitive standards required for their position, and are relevant across a wide range of occupations and industries, including but not limited to:

  • Law enforcement, corrections, and public safety
  • Healthcare and clinical settings
  • Transportation and safety-sensitive industries
  • Education
  • Executive and high-responsibility roles
  • Any position where mental health, cognitive functioning, or behavioral concerns raise questions about safe and effective job performance
